Bio
My name is Rachel Homza, and I am a pediatric speech-language pathologist. I earned my Bachelor's of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Florida in 2013 and my Master's of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of South Florida in 2015. Since then, I have worked with children and their families to help reach their communication goals in many settings, including private practice, preschools, pediatric extended care facilities, and multidisciplinary teams. In 2020, I discovered the impact of teletherapy on the progress children made toward their speech and language goals. I noticed that this delivery model better allowed parents to participate in sessions and understand how to help their children with their speech goals throughout the week.

I am inspired by Mary Poppins and believe that "with every job that must be done there is an element of fun." I often incorporate movement, music, and books into my intervention. Sessions are typically driven by the child's interests. I am data driven, but am overjoyed to hear about functional gains, like a child ordering a meal for the first time, being understood by grandparents, or raising their hand in class to answer a question.
